If you are a fan of the Austin, Texas music scene you have no doubt heard of our home grown guitar prodigy Gary Clark Jr. He is a true Austin native and a 28 year old singer, song writer, guitar phenom.  He is self-taught and has been playing the Austin club circuit since his early teens. His style is an eclectic mix of rock, jazz, blues and pop.

Gary really began to hit it big when he was introduced by Clifford Antone at his well known live blues venue Antones. He has impressd the crowds and has had rave reviews ever since. Eventually, Clark was selected by Eric Clapton to play the 2010 Crossroads Guitar Festival, which launched his major-label deal with Warner. Gary recently visited the White House and jammed with the likes of BB King and Mick Jagger.

He is admired as a hard worker by his peers and a great guy to be around. He is unassuming and dedicated to the growth and challenges of his career. As he croons in his hit song Bright Lights, "people gonna know my name". Make sure you're not the last to catch on to this fresh new talent and guitar star!

The Austin, Texas South by Southwest music, film, and interactive conference is about to begin. This is the time for Austin locals as well as people from around the globe to converge on our great city.

The music portion of SXSW will be held March 13th through the 18th. We are pleased to have Bruce Springsteen as the keynote speaker this year. It is advisable to to know which shows you would like to catch in advance to maximize your experience. You may also want to subscribe to the SXSW newsletter for all the latest deadlines and giveaways. Be sure to see Gary Clark Jr  if at all possible , he is an Austin native and a great talent.

If you don't have a film badge or pass, be aware that most screenings at the Paramount and Vimeo Theaters will sell $10 single admission tickets 15 minutes before showtime. Be sure to check the screenings at all of the venues, you might get lucky!  The film portion of SXSW will be held March 9th through the 17th.

The Music Startup Village consolidates much of what already happens at SXSW Interactive into one location. The Startup Village brings together the startups, entrepreneurs, investors, and digital tastesmasters within the festival. Current and future entrepreneurs will benefit from learning and networking with investors and media representatives. The interactive segment of the SXSW festival will be held March 9th through the 13th.
